I have over 17 years of clinical experience in assessing and treating a wide range of psychological difficulties in adults.
I specialise in assessing and diagnosing adults who may have an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and helping them access psychological therapies that are adjusted for their ASC needs, including Schema Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy.
I also specialise in offering Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). These approaches are effective in treating a wide range pf psychological conditions, including depression, anxiety and panic attacks, OCD, low self-esteem/ worth, fluctuating moods/ emotional instability, difficulties forming and/ or maintaining relationships, complex-trauma, personality disorders and problematic ways of managing emotions such as binge-eating, self-harm or alcohol overuse.
As a Senior Clinical Psychologist in the NHS, I worked in across both acute (inpatient and crisis teams) and community-based (outpatient) settings where I delivered psychological assessments and interventions to individual clients and groups as well as teaching, training and consultation to staff teams.
Whilst in the NHS, I was the Clinical Lead for the Autistic Spectrum Disorder Assessment and Diagnosis Service for Adults in Portsmouth. Since then, I have offered comprehensive diagnostic assessments in private practice for clients who may have an ASC and are struggling to meet their potential in key areas such as: education, employment and personal/ social relationships or who are struggling with the specific impairments related to ASC including: managing emotions/ outbursts; communicating with/ understanding other people or experiencing recurrent exploitation from others. I offer thorough differential diagnosis so if a client does not have an ASC, they will leave the assessment process clear about what their diagnosis is, with a clear psychological formulation (how their difficulties/ problematic patterns developed over time) and recommendations.
I have chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS) where I am also an Associate Fellow. I am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the regulatory body for psychologists in the UK and am covered by all the leading private health-insurance companies, including BUPA.
Currently, I work exclusively in private practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
