Dr Olivia Thrift
The therapeutic approaches I specialise in include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). These approaches help with a wide range of difficulties, including depression (both current and past/recurring depression), anxiety/panic attacks, OCD, low self worth, fluctuating moods/emotional instability, relationship difficulties, trauma-based difficulties, personality disorders and problematic ways of managing emotions, such as binge eating, drinking and self-harm. I think a strong therapeutic relationship combined with evidenced based structured therapy is imperative in helping people make the changes they desire and feel very privileged to be able to work with people to help them overcome their difficulties and reach their goals.
I have chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS), am accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the regulatory body for psychologists in the UK and am covered by all the leading private health-insurance companies, including BUPA.
Finally, I have done the most advanced level training in Schema Therapy available and am certified with the International Society for Schema Therapy (ISST) and am an ISST. I am an ISST authorised Advanced Schema Therapist and Supervisor and am a Schema Supervisor for several UK based Schema training programmes.
