I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Hawai’i School of Professional Psychology in Honolulu, Hawaii. My training included psychological testing such as cognitive (IQ) assessments, objective and projective personality assessment and multiple therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy for couples and systemic therapies.
The main therapeutic approaches that inform my treatment include Schema therapy, which is an effective treatment for complex, and long standing problems. It is a long-term treatment that identifies and targets self-defeating patterns through cognitive, experiential and behavioral techniques.
I also use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), which is an evidence-based treatment that focuses on changing thoughts and behaviors that are linked to emotional problems. In addition I draw skills from DBT, which is an evidence-based treatment for borderline personality disorder. It has been demonstrated in multiple clinical trials that DBT is an effective treatment for a range of disorders and problems including self-harm, suicidal ideation, hopelessness, mood disorders such as depression, substance abuse and dependence, eating disorders, impulsive behaviors and anger expression.
To improve my DBT skills further, I received further training from Behavioral Tech in Princeton, NJ. In 2013 I moved to UK and since then took further training in Schema Therapy, DBT and Compassion Focused Therapy.
Most recently I have began training in Compassion Focused Therapy, which cultivates compassion by teaching skills of mindfulness, and attributes of compassion. It helps people with self-critical thinking and shame based difficulties.
