Experiencing physical pain can be a very stressful and emotionally draining experience. We offer psychological therapy for physical pain in my clinic in Godalming near Guildford (Surrey) or Haywards Heath near Brighton West Sussex. We also provide therapy over the telephone or on Skype, if appropriate.
During my training, I worked in a chronic-pain clinic, so I’ve seen first-hand how pain can impact on a person’s quality of life, contribute to and compound depression, and affect relationships.
Although pain is very real, and often the result of serious injury, disease, or body wear and tear, it has been proven that the intensity of the pain a person feels is influenced by their emotional and psychological state – some people, for example, may experience chronic pain when no physical cause can be found.
Psychological therapy can help a person develop ways of managing pain, and thus lead to a more fulfilling life.
